School Bus Safety
From the NC Department of Public Instruction:
Q: My child has special needs and can’t get to and from the bus stop. How can she be accommodated?
A: A student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) can list Transportation as a related service. The IEP may require specialized equipment, such as a wheelchair lift, so your student can be safely transported to and from school. In such cases where there is an IEP, the school district has an obligation to make sure those needs are met – whether on a school bus or by an alternate method such as contracting with a third part to transport the student.
